What you'll do

Start the tour at the dye plant where the handloom process begins with the dyeing of 100% cotton yarn into the various colors used for the production. A home garden on site uses water from the wastewater treatment plant that is set up to ensure that the dye waste does not harm the environment. Next, experience the tradition of handloom that dates back to inception of Sri Lankan history at our weaving sites. If you join our full day tour, you can also visit the crèche facility for the children of our artisans as part of Selyn’s commitment to empower marginalized producers to access sustainable livelihoods. Guests will be treated to lunch prepared by the village as part of Selyns’ Fair Trade experience. In our headquarters and "toy factory", where around 125 women from in and around Kurunegala work together to finish the woven fabric into Selyn products . A homeworker model runs parallel where another close to 180 women work from home on the finishing of products. Final stop at our main showroom in Kurunegala where the story of Selyn began 25 years ago when Sandra Wanduragala commenced the business.
