As a published food writer and anthropologist, I have been living in SW France for three years. My writing includes research and articles on local oysters and bread and, in September I start a PhD to study an historic French herb garden. I enjoy getting to know a place through its particular tastes, recipes and traditions, whether that is an aperitif of Pineau (made using local Cognac), or a piece of Fromage Blanc flan. It is a region famous for mushrooms, truffles, Cognac, Bordeaux wine, hazlenuts, walnuts, goat cheese, fruits and, seafood and I look forward to sharing it with you!

Where you'll be

Led by food writer and anthropologist Bee Farrell, the Marché Notre-Dame visit will be a gentle yet fascinating taste encounter. There will be local cheeses, breads, mushrooms, fruits, pastries, oysters, saucisson, honey and much more to enjoy. We will talk with local producers and have tasters at a variety of their stalls. The tour will finish with a chat about the morning's taste experience over a drink and a Madeleine at a nearby café.
