What you'll do
During our experience, we will visit small family owned businesses that produce products in the same way as their grandfathers did. We will visit workshops where the artisans produce the most authentic local folklore arts: the mati, also known as the evil eye and our national hobby, locally known as komboloi, (worry beads). Our next stop will be a famous poet-sandal maker. We will meet him at his workshop that has had customers such as The Beatles, Barbara Streisand, and Sarah Jessica Parker, just to name a few! we will explore open markets dedicated to antiques and shop for souvenirs that are so much more interesting than fridge magnets, so we’ll lead you into one of the most innovative shops, which sells souvenirs crafted by the new generation of Greek artists. You’ll find delightfully fresh and different mementos to take back home. From art, we’ll move onto another staple of the local culture: ouzo! We’ll visit stores selling endless ouzo varieties, as well as other local products such as olives, olive oil, honey, and beauty products all of them from Greek producers and of course you will get to sample them. We will end our experience with a glass of wine and a local tapas.

Nikoleta and I run this unique city experience. We are both artistic and in love with everything "Made in Greece". We belong to many cultural groups and associations that promote small-scale family-owned business and try to keep traditional arts alive in a world dominated by huge multinational companies. As a travel massive chapter leader, I have hosted many events and written blogs in order to showcase the last remaining artisans in our city. Our mission is to show you places where you can buy authentic Greek souvenirs/products and bring you in touch with the people that create them.
