What you'll do

Join me on my favourite walk in Dorset! The walk from Studland up to Old Harry Rocks and higher up to Ballard Down, gives you a stunning 360 degree view of Poole Harbour (the second largest natural harbour in the world), Poole Bay towards Christchurch and Hengistbury Head, the Isle of Wight and Swanage. We'll return via a secret WWII lookout bunker to The Bankes Arms pub by Studland Beach where you can choose to take in some local pub grub or drinks (pay homage to your walk with an Isle of Purbeck ale) overlooking Poole Bay.

Shona

I grew up in the beautiful Purbeck countryside exploring the coast. I also spent 5 years working for the local tourist board helping visitors to the area plan their stay and making the most of their time in Poole and Dorset. I have a degree in physical Geography with my final research project focused on the Dorset section of the south west coast path, where we'll be walking. I am a keen kayaker, walker and swimmer and have spent many hours exploring the Dorset coastline by these modes of human power!

Where you'll be

As well as the beautiful views, this walk takes in some secret tales of Poole and Studland. Find out more about the tales of notorious pirate of Poole, Harry Paye and why we call the white stacks 'Old Harry Rocks'. Did you know that Studland was the site of WWII D-Day landing practice and observed by British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill? I'll show you the secret bunker where Churchill stood and observed the troops before that fateful day.
