What you'll do

We start off the day by riding the subway to the 10th district to a family-owned bakery. There, you will be treated to a variety of typical Viennese pastries, including the famously airy “Krapfen”! After that, we will explore the area of "Favoriten", a district that gets its name from … furthermore. You will be able to see the "local" Vienna from our perspective. Next, you will get an awesome introduction to hand-made baklava. After that, we will move on to the 4th district, also via the subway. Throughout the tour, we will explain the public transportation system so that after the tour, you will be able to fully use it on your own. There, we will explore a typical, but not well known, coffee house. They are known for authentic Austrian cakes and “Strudel” that are simply delicious. Once we finish there, we will walk
to the “Naschmarkt” and end the tour sampling some hand-made Austrian chocolate creations.
Other things to note
This Tour will manly be indoors, so you do not have to worry about weather conditions. We will travel by Metro and/or Tram to give you an inside view into our public transportation system.

We design tours to give you an insider look into Vienna’s culture, off the beaten track. We started this Air BnB experience to give travelers a chance to walk the streets with a local. We love our city, its wide range of food and people and, especially, what we do!
Wolfgang: successfully worked in the restaurant/hotel business as an
owner/manager. Patrick: worked in various fields from selling vinegar at a market to IT support. Kerstin: is a very successful tour guide and has been working with people with special needs for a long time. Lena: has been working in restaurants her whole life and is a perfect fit for our culinary and sporty tours. John: entrepreneur with a specialty in political science. Verena: After years as a hospitality expert in Europe and the
U.S., Verena is finally back in “her” city and sharing it with friends!

Where you'll be

The first stop will take us to “Favoriten”. We will stop at a family-owned bakery and try one of the most iconic pastries in town. This bakery offers a variety of cakes, “petit fours” and much more. Next, we will go around the corner and try some Turkish baklava. After this, we will go to a 4th District coffee house not far away to sample Viennese "Gugelhupf". At the last stop, in the “Naschmarkt”, will experience hand-made Austrian chocolate.

The most beautiful way to experience Vienna for what it truly is. Some of the most delicious desserts I have ever tasted accompanied by in-depth knowledge of the people, area and history of Vienna. Very charming and talkative tour guides who wholly make you feel welcome and help you fall in love with all the little charms Vienna has to offer

Definitely a must-attend experience, especially if it’s your first time in Vienna. I got to see the daily life in Vienna as well as taste the most appreciated Viennese desserts. My host Wolfgang was very easy going and talkative. He really knows his way around the best pastries in the city.

Get ready for a whirlwind tour that introduces you to the most amazing pastries that Vienna has to offer! Patrick was our host and he was friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel like his guests in Vienna. We were leaving from the train station after the tour, heading back to Prague, and he even reversed the order so we could end right next to the station - very thoughtful! Great variety of pastry stops - my absolute favorite was The Black Camel - AMAZING! Patrick had a great knowledge of the city, a respect for all the cultural groups that have contributed to Vienna’s food culture, and was warmly greeted by every restaurant we entered. It was a great afternoon - thanks, Patrick!

I was early getting to the street that we were supposed to meet, but Wolfgang and Kerstin found me even though I had intended to go to the meeting spot closer to the scheduled time. Kerstin was my guide on my pastry tour, which unexpectedly was a private tour since I was the only one. She was wonderful in sharing her passion for pastries and her love of Vienna. She showed me places where the locals ate, which I really appreciated because I did not want to go to the usual touristy places. I got to try delicious pastries and great Viennese coffee. I also learned more about the city while we were using Vienna's excellent public transit. Afterwards, she kindly sent me an email of photos she had taken during the tour along with recommendations. I recommend this experience if you enjoy eating sweets, drinking good coffee, and getting a local experience!

Really enjoyed this tour. Our host Verena was welcoming, kind, knowledgable and very helpful. We really felt she wanted us to have the best time possible while we were in Vienna. The tour was enjoyable, although we did expect a couple more stops that included pastry on a pastry tour! Perhaps calling it something a little different would be advisable. That said we enjoyed all the food experiences and sights we saw.
