About your host, David
Following a career in journalism, I moved from inner Tokyo to the hills of Okutama in 2014. Always interested in wasabi, I helped local growers at their wasabida and have revived an abandoned patch.

Notes
Sturdy footwear is recommended, and being waterproof is an advantage. Please note that conditions in the forest may be quite harsh during the winter. Also, this is a strictly "no smoking" experience.

Where we’ll be
After meeting at Kawai station, we'll walk about 20 minutes mostly uphill to my once-abandoned wasabi patch in Okutama, Tokyo. I'll also show you nearby former wasabida that have been neglected for decades.
