What you'll do

Experience Downtown Malaysian Street food - taste traditional African Pap (similar to Polenta) ’n sauce. Sample the best brisket anywhere loooking out over the city rooftops at the biggest table in the world. Then picnic in the original fruit gardens of “The Tavern of the Seas,” as Cape Town was known. Savour local fish, Boerewors,(sausage) Biltong,(dried meat) Indian Bunny Chow,(nothing to do with rabbits) Koe-sisters (sweet Doughnuts) and chocolate. Buy spices in the Bo-Kaap Malay neighbourhood and explore old European recipes merged with Asian influence - just some of the highlights. Our food tells our history, our story. A hint of the future of our fusion food (and cold umqombothi beer) on Bree Street – the hub of the quirky then on to local Bubbles in the shade of the oldest vine in the Cape. No better way to make friends than to break bread with them.

Marc

Raised on the tastes of Cape Town , my bohemian lifestyle led me to live in many of her "hoods". After graduating with a degree in Theatre and Cultural history I completed a course as a Cape Town tour Guide then set out into the world to explore a career as a Clown. My niche is Dinner Shows, where the talents of popular chefs are showcased in presentations inspired by the pageantry of old at Roman Feasts. For example a fish course is served by mermaids! I performed in, wrote and directed many of these international foodie experiences and worked closely with great chefs in their kitchens.

Where you'll be

Our walk takes us through many neighbourhoods of Cape town, from downtown to trendy, from the art deco precinct to the markets and we pass many historic buildings along the way. A private rooftop garden gives walkers a unique perspective. We start at the statue of Mandela on the Balcony where he gave his first speech after leaving Robben island, and remember an interesting story his cook told about him,and end at a gallery aptly named,Young Blood.
