What you'll do
We will visit The Andean Alliance for Sustainable Development's organic demonstration farm, nestled in the Sacred Valley against a backdrop of the stunning Andes mountains. Together, we’ll tour the farm and get a taste of how farming works in this region. Following this, we'll share a lunch prepared at the farm, featuring the local cuisine and farm produce. If you’re up for it, we can roll up our sleeves and dig into some farm work! (dependent on interest) You can expect to learn about a little bit of everything from how we fuse traditional farming practices with more modern ecological production methods to how we engage local farmers who gather at the farm to share best practices and experiences. We will visit the chickens, guinea pigs, and much more! The farm is located on the family land of our lead agriculture technician so you will experience firsthand how a local farming family lives. We’ll see a mix of small-scale vegetable and animal production and the impressive gravity fed irrigation system, built in the time of the Incas and still used today.
Hi there! I'm Kat. Originally, I'm from California but my love for travel has taken me all over the world. Following a Masters in International Environmental Policy, I moved down to Peru to work with food and farming in the majestic Andes. My passion is for farming and sustainable food systems and this has led me to work as an organic farmer, farm/food educator in Peru, California, and Denmark. On my free time you can find me hiking, practicing yoga, cooking, or digging in the dirt!
About the organisation

We work alongside communities to construct and maintain school and family greenhouses in addition to running an educational demonstration farm that hosts workshops and sells produce to local, organic markets. We hope you come visit our beautiful farm!
