What you'll do

We'll meet at a handy location and discuss what type of photography you enjoy, what you hope to see and where we will go. I can be fairly flexible with timing so please contact me first. I have assisted people who enjoy using everything from film cameras and digital SLR's to compact cameras and smartphones so I should be able to help with camera tips and tricks. As well as commercial and artistic photography I also work with video production, so if you'd like to put together a video postcard of your stay in Wellington I can help with that. During our photo safari we will be passing some excellent cafés where you may like to sample the city's famous hospitality. This can also be a great opportunity to brush up on techniques for photographing superb food and beverage images. During your photo walk/workshop you will capture a selection of your very own unique photos from 'Middle earth' and have images you'd love to frame and hang on your wall.

Mike And Stephanie

Host - Mike: I'm a full-time photographer and have been hunting out the beautiful and quirky aspects of Wellington since I came here to study at a design school over 20 years ago. I love to share my passion for wandering around the waterfront and city streets to capture those special moments. I've taught photography at a local university as well as iPhone classes so I will be able to help anyone who aims to get the best out of their equipment. Wellington's natural light and eclectic backdrop is always on show, but some may like to experiment with using electronic flash also. Contact re. times.

Where you'll be

We will walk the waterfront area that has art installations, native plant life, and interesting architectural structures, before heading up Cuba Street which has a vibrant and eclectic diversity of it's own. There are possibilities for many types of photographic subject matter within the city but we can discuss any other specific goals you may have (locations or technical objectives).
