What you'll do

Join us for a tasting and discussion about natural wine. We will taste together a range of various natural wines from around the world made by the true rebels of the beverage world: vintners and grape farmers. We will define what natural wine is, discuss its ancestral roots and more recent rebirth. We will go over some of the styles and regional differences. We will also send you home with some resources on where to find your favorite natural wines. As a member of the local chapter of Slow Food, I incorporate the values of 'Good Clean and Fair' in the wines we choose and the people we feature.

Learn more about Simon

Simon

Hello, I'm Simon--a Franco-American wine enthusiast. I grew up in France, often visiting winemakers in the Loire Valley with my parents. I have been working in restaurants for ten years and while doing so, have renewed my interest in all things wine. I have been the wine curator for Olympia Oyster Bar for 4+ years. I also opened Sardine Head (a natural wine bar & restaurant) in April 2018 with a friend. Our goal at Sardine Head is to create a space where people can enjoy natural wine without all the fussy old school rules and intimidation. We want to democratize wine. Wine for the people! I am also a member of Slow Food Portland and an advisor on their Slow Wine Board.

This experience is crafted in accordance with the principles of Slow Food, ensuring that it is delicious, socially responsible and ecologically sustainable.

Slow Food is a global, grassroots organisation, founded in 1989 to prevent the disappearance of local food cultures and traditions and counteract the rise of fast food culture. Since its founding, it has grown into a global movement working to ensure that everyone has access to good, clean and fair food. Your contribution, in addition to supporting the host, will help Slow Food implement projects worldwide to empower local communities, promote artisan farmers and producers, and support school gardens and education projects.

This is a social impact experience where 100% of what you pay for this experience goes to Slow Food.
