What you'll do

We'll meet at a fabulous Chinatown coffee/tea shop, then we'll shop for the quahogs, cherrystones & clams at one of the open air fish markets, then we'll head to the Essex St. Market to shop for the vegetable ingredients passing by & visiting if you wish a few of the, 'In the know' Lower East Side galleries. I'll point out various new hot galleries, Jasper John's studio, & talk about New York in the 80's. Essex St. Market is frequented by its surrounding multi-cultural neighbors and communities. We'll discuss why I use quahogs & clams and my choice of other ingredients for the chowder as well as picking up a six pack of Narragansett beer & ingredients to make my famous Purple & Gold cole-slaw. I've got making these dishes down to a science that works & I hope you'll try at home. There's a lot I need help with so you'll hone your knife skills for sure. I have enough knives & cutting boards to accommodate four guests. We'll dine & share (travel) stories while cooking and learning kitchen tricks and hacks. No doubt you'll leave this experience growing some serious New England roots

I've lived in Manhattan over half my life but I hail & boast that my roots are deep in the heart of The Ocean State/RI. With a Natural Gourmet Graduate background, I'm trained as a health supportive Chef. Working with local, seasonal & organic ingredients is a given for me. I love what I do and I'm excited to share it Recipes 4 Survival, Utilitarian Cooking & Much More were self produced cooking shows shot on a lock off camera right here at our location. 86 half hr episodes ran in an unprecedented primetime slot for over 2 years, catapulting me to cult hero in about a month!

Where you'll be

We'll walk through the top of Chinatown & Lower East Side. I'll point out prominent art galleries, Jasper John's studio and must see spots like the Essex Street Market where we'll pickup additional ingredients we did not get in Chinatown. Then we'll cook & eat to our hearts content in my place where I shot of 80 episodes or Recipes 4 Survival. Newer segments can be found on youtube.
