What you'll do

This experience has been inspired by my love of coffee and bikes. We will visit by bike and on foot 3-4 of the most iconic specialty coffee shops in Chicago, spanning 5 neighborhoods—places you won't necessarily find in tour guides, so you'll be able to see and experience the 'real' Chicago.

Each shop has its unique style—from the 80's game arcade vibes to ultra modern coffee lab. You're welcome to taste as many beverages as you'd like, but don't worry, there's no obligation whatsoever—that would be a lot of caffeine!

Each stop, however, will provide a great opportunity for you to ask any coffee (also tea and kombucha) question, so hopefully, it will be an educational as well as an experiential tour. I'll pull back the curtain and reveal my secrets of professional coffee, tea, and kombucha making.

Be prepared for a good amount of exercise. We'll cover the total of up to 5.8 miles. A good portion by bike but also on foot (some of the coffee shops are fairly close to each other).

We'll finish the tour with a short bike ride on probably the most enjoyable bike path in Chicago—The 606—abandoned rail line converted into a multi-use recreational trail—it's truly spectacular.

I'm a coffee professional and the founder of Black Fodder Coffee Co.—a craft coffee (and now tea and kombucha) venture. I live and breathe (drink, really) coffee every day.

I've lived in Europe and the US, which helped me refine my tastes and sense of aesthetics—I'll take you to coffee shops with the best vibes in Chicago. My background is in teaching (English as a second language), so I'm pretty good at explaining things, so go ahead, ask away!

Fun fact: I'm type 1, with a 9 wing on Enneagram.

Where you'll be

Finding good coffee can be challenging. I've visited a lot of average shops, so I can take you only to the best specialty ones. You can also count on my expertise and recommendations of what is worth trying in each of them.

As we sip the delicious beverages, I'll gladly share some tips on how to prepare coffee, tea, and kombucha at home like a pro. Your friends will be impressed!
