What you'll do
I will take you to visit one of my favorite places in Buenos Aires: Abasto neighbourhood. A place of tango, art, cafés and "porteño" traditions. I will show you to some of my favorite places: the street of the "fileteado" houses (traditional Buenos Aires painting), a very special little store of tango clothes, a traditional coffee shop from which I like to look at the streets of the neighborhood and some surprises more! We are going to visit go around the old house of the greatest tango singer of all times: Carlos Gardel. This place is now a small museum in the neighborhood where he was born. I will tell you some legends about the tango ghosts that are known to haunt Abasto. We will visit the corners and the passages where the most endearing characters used to gather to dance or sing , all around the old Abasto Market, from which we will get to see the architectural fragments that are left sorrounding the shopping mall that it has become. Don't forget to bring comfortable shoes cause I'm going to teach you the basic moves of Tango! I'd love to share a nice time with you, full of stories, and surprises. Looking forward too see you! Emilia
I've danced tango for more than eight years now, I studied about its history both in the university and by myself. I am an actress and I have an acting degree from the National Arts University. I know the neighborhood of Abasto in detail because I've been working in theater for more than ten years and 80% of the off circuit theaters are located there. That is why I want to share with you what I know, showing you some special places I found and telling you stories about this popular and "porteño" art that I learned: tango.
