What you'll do
First of all, I'll explain what kind of ingredients we can use for Japanese sweets. They are refined rice flour, sweet red beans, Japanese brown sugar syrup and so on. Secondly, I'll show you what kind of cooking equipment we use for Japanese sweets. They are measuring spoons, mixing bowls, strainers, pots and stoves. Thirdly, I'll show you how to make Mochi with refined rice flour. It's very important to know how soft it should be. We'll carefully put Mochi into the boiling water, and finish making them. Finally, we'll decorate "Special Matcha Parfait" and taste it! We'll use seasonal fruits for topping, and fresh Mochi you've just made, and sweet red beans, Matcha ice cream, whipped cream and so on. Bon appetit!

Hi! My name is Sumie! I'm a national registered nutritionist, a food coordinator and a menu planner living in Nara. I've been running my own coffee shop for 10 years. The name of the coffee shop is "cafe WAKAKUSA." I've always been trying to treat foreign tourists Japanese sweets, so "Matcha Parfait" is on our menu, and that is the most popular sweet dish at our cafe. Nowadays, Japanese Matcha sweets are very popular all over the world, so as Mochi (Japanese rice cake). Sometimes, foreign customers ask us how to make them. So I decided to teach you how to make them exclusively in Airbnb!

Where you'll be
We've been running our coffee shop for 10 years, and many foreign customers say "It's a cozy and nice place". I've never taught how to make Mochi and Sweets, because it's a kind of secret of our coffee shop. But this time, I really like the idea of Airbnb experience, and I decided to host foreign tourists here. I'll never teach anyone besides Airbnb customers. Exclusively only in Airbnb.
