What you'll do

We will meet at the Medina clock tower and head to one oldest fish market in the world. Its here where I'll introduce the freshest seafood that comes in daily from Atlantic ocean, whilst we shop and browse amongst local fishmongers. We will hand pick the best selection of seafood that is in season whilst learning about the different varieties of seafood and where our food comes from. Once we have our seafood we will go and pick the best local produced wine to accompany our meal. From here its a short 15 minute walk to my place where I will prepare for you the seafood and we'll set our table and enjoy our seafood and wine indoors or outdoors in my garden.
Other things to note
Seafood depend on what fishermen bring so we will choose what is fresh and available.
if you don't find availability in the calendar just write me and we arrange time(Lunch or Dinner) and date.

Chou cooked us a wonderful meal of fish we had never eaten before, like eel, mackerel and fresh sardines. He also introduced us to the fish market in Essaouira and a top notch spice/herbalist vendor, preparing a delicious special tea to share, including lots of bubbles the Moroccan way! It was fun to cook alongside him and to have him share some good Moroccan recipes, along with a nice wine from the region.

I did not actually do this experience because I had to cancel, but Chou was kind enough to let me join him on his walking tour and taste of local products the next day. He was very flexible and gracious. I thoroughly enjoyed the storytelling, the history he shared and meeting locals where we sat for a coffee overlooking the sea, had Royal tea in the market, and discussed the culture and history of local musicians in the area. Fabulous experience, highly recommend.

Chou is very knowledgeable about Morocco and specifically the history of Essaouira. I enjoyed cooking with him, sharing stories and listening to his interesting African play list of music.

So glad we decided to book this experience! Chou has a wealth of information on Gnawa music and history that he shared throughout the evening. He took us to visit a master gimbri player in his shop where we listened and joined in playing together. Then we went to gather incense from his friend in an amazing spice shop and got to smell all the incredible aromas for tajines and more. Lastly, we spent the rest of the evening hanging out and listening to a master musician. We got to jam together, drink tea and eat cookies. Chou is quite generous and thoughtful, and he made accommodations for us by combining experiences and tailoring to our needs. Highly recommended for anyone who would like a warm, personal and cultural experience that you can’t get anywhere else!
