What you'll do
Our mission is to preserve live music and "Keep Live Music Alive". Jazz and Blues Preservation hosts Jazz event in local Jazz and Blues venues in Harlem and on 52nd street, the "Swing Street" of the City. Every Sunday we will present "Jazzy Sunday Vocalist Show" at the Famous Russian Samovar. Our Sunday brunch is dedicated to vocalists. We will bring it back! You will experience bebop and jazz standard of the Prohibition Era Speakeasy of 1930's to 1950's. A featured singer will perform and invite guests musicians. If you are musicians bring your instrument. After the Show we offer "Complimentary Experience" in Harlem, a unique event at an historical venue. Please let us know in advance if you would like to join us. By 1915, Harlem was jumping to the earlier version of jazz and blues, "Ragtime". 133rd street was the real "Swing Street". Following the repeal of Prohibition in 1933, 52nd Street replaced 133rd street as "Swing Street" of the city. The blocks of 52nd Street became renowned for the abundance of jazz clubs and lively street life. From 52nd Street we will jump back to Harlem on 132nd street the place where everything started.
Jazz and Blues Preservation with Sasa and Linda! Sasa is a textile conservator. She traveled to USA sponsored byThe Getty Museum, The Kress Foundation and The Smithsonian. She opened her first Lounge in NYC and she discovered the passion for live music. Here Sasa met Linda, a jazz aficionados, and learned more about the history of music and African American culture. Linda was a great influence because of her knowledge and life experience! Linda is the soul of music, she is the perfect connoisseur that everybody needs to meet. Both minds founded Jazz and Blues Preservation! We promote musicians and venues; we love discovering new talented artists. Linda and Sasa realized the importance of preserving Jazz and Blues history and the mecca of Live Music.
