What you'll do

WELCOME to the Indigo Workshop hosted by Frances of Frances Felt. I am very excited to have you join me for this fun, creative and explorative course of INDIGO dyeing. During the 3 hours you will learn the basics of an indigo vat. You will learn the basics of shibori folding which is a Japanese manual resist dyeing technique. You will make a few samples on different types of fabrics (cotton, silk, linen, bamboo) that you will get to take home and hopefully incorporate into your next project! Once you see the results of the samples then you will begin to concentrate your efforts on making your grand finale piece! You can choose a summer scarf, an apron, or a pillow case to take home! Coffee, tea and treats will be served. ** Just a note, I am pretty flexible on dates and times. If there is a different time that works for you or a date you are not seeing please message me and I'm sure we can work something out!

Frances

After completing my Batchelor of Fine Arts from the Alberta College of Art & Design I returned home to BC to begin my own business designing fabrics and clothing. Since 2003 I have been running my own textile design company. I specialize in felting, dyeing and clothing design. I have sold my clothes and accessories in stores across Canada and have participated in high end craft shows like Toronto's One of a Kind Show and Vancouver's Circle Craft Show. Over the years I have taught felting, printing on cloth and most recently, INDIGO dyeing. Please visit www.francesfelt.com to see my work or follow along on Instagram @francesfelt

Where you'll be

The INDIGO course will be located in my studio in my private residence located just outside the beautiful town of Pemberton. Depending on the weather, we will do lots of the dyeing in my large, private backyard with sweeping views of the surrounding mountains. If we have to stay inside, my studio space is in my basement, equipped with a full dye kitchen as well as a sewing room.

More tips

We have a dog on the property. She is very friendly and exuberant. If you have an aversion to dogs please let me know. I can keep her in a different part of the house during the course. I have a 12yr old daughter who can babysit and would be happy to look after your child if needed.
