What you'll do

Explore the unique Japanese tradition, in a hideaway tearoom located 2 minutes walk from Ginkaku-ji(Silver Pavilion) in Kyoto. We are holding 45 minutes Authentic Tea ceremony Experience on Saturdays and Sundays. It’s Almost like being at a real tea gathering; the host demonstrates you the traditional preparing procedure, and you will attend as a guest enjoying Japanese dry sweets and tasty matcha tea. We teach you the manners, too, so you can try the traditional way. After the tea party, you can also try making your own bowl of matcha tea using the bamboo whisk. Guide attended. -- A valuable experience rarely possible, that is the host greets you at the tea garden gate, you will enter there and use the stone basin, and get into the traditional tearoom. -- · Reception at the entrance · A guide takes you through the mossy garden to the tea-room · Garden → Small Tea-Garden → Tea-Room · Learn the basic custom of the way of tea before the demonstration · Watch the host's authentic procedure, you will join as a guest being served sweets and matcha tea · Enjoy making your own tea under the guidance of the host

I am a tea ceremony experience guide, holding the sessions for beginners in a hideaway tearoom near Ginkaku-ji (Silver Pavilion) in Kyoto. This traditional tea ceremony room is open for public to let people experience the authentic way and explore its unique traditional culture continued more than 400 yrs from samurai age. I would like you to touch the world of wabi sabi cuIture, in the traditional tea room near Ginkakuji which is deeply related to Zen culture.
