What you'll do
You will start your morning at the main farmhouse to wash up and have a French style breakfast before the short trek down to the pasture for the milking. As light fills the valley and birds twitter from the trees you will head out to greet the girls at the gate. They will be waiting for you! A peace and tranquility presides that will make you forget you were ever in the 21st century as you say "bonjour" to Marguerite and her sister Flora, and their new friend Kitty. You can help us bring the girls around to the milking parlor and feed them their breakfast while they get ready to be milked. You can participate in the milking by trying a hand milk technique to finish them after the machine does its work (if you wish) and brush them to make them beautiful for their day's activities of eating rich grass, eating more rich grass, chewing their cuds, and then eating... wait for it... more rich grass! After the girls are milked out and ready to go back to pasture, we will return to the farmhouse to get cleaned up again and pick up your thank you farm gift.
Benoit Et Kristina
Benoit is the founder of St Benoit Creamery, a sustainable organic dairy business he ran for 14 years in the San Francisco Bay Area. He is from the French Alps where dairy is a huge part of the mountain lifestyle. Kristina started baking and canning as a child with her grandmother. She has a passion for education, having taught for 25 years and bakes professionally. She adores sharing her knowledge of farm life and local foods. We recently started Sierraville Micro Dairy, a home dairy with a small herd of Jersey/Swiss Brown cows and Sierraville Micro Kitchen, an organic French style GF bakery
We will serve a local organic French breakfast and you will leave with a small seasonal thank you gift from the farm. GF ok.

Where you'll be
We will start with breakfast the farmhouse nestled in a 100 year old orchard, surrounded by pasture, free range hens, and forest. Then, we head to the 220 acre ranch about a mile away right next to the local rodeo grounds for the milking. The majority of the experience takes place in the pasture and milking parlor. It is a chance to live in the present moment in life and enjoy some special time with the animals. We finish back at the farmhouse.
