What you'll do

We can meet at the train station and from there I will give you an insider's perspective of everything and a comprehensive description of all aspects of Portuguese culture past and present and we will adjust the tour according to the circumstances such as weather and your personal preferences. In order from the meeting point the first attraction of this Belem tour is the Coach Museum, which contains the best collection of horse driven carriages and was the private collection of Queen Amelia. Next, the grand Palácio da Ajuda followed by the pink-coloured Belem National Palace, the official residence of the president of Portugal. Then 200m down the street, the Cafe “Pasteis de Belem” is the tradition home of the famous pastry and it is a busy place which sells over 10,000 cakes a day. Next we will head to a square of manicured gardens which is one of Europe’s largest squares and is bound by the grand 15th century Mosteiro dos Jeronimos and the imposing 20th century CCB both of which we may visit.

I'm an educated, cultured, traveled, friendly, genuine (and around another 100 positive adjectives) guide who has a lot of experience of going out in Lisbon and surroundings. My background couldn't be more eclectic: Corporate Management, Hotel & Catering, Tourism, Education, Psychology... and now Tourism again although I decided to deviate from the traditional "tours" concept. I don't like tight schedules and itineraries, packed cars and vans, waiting in huge lines at tourist attractions, going on auto-pilot in my interactions with my clients.

The manicured gardens, the Coach Museum, the Palacio da Ajuda, the Royal Court, the Palacio Nacional de Belem (Belem National Palace), the Cafe “Pasteis de Belem” , the grand 15th century Mosteiro dos Jeronimos and the imposing 20th century CCB both of which we may visit. Then a small tunnel will take us to the waterfront where we will see the Discoveries Monument, the Belem Tower, and the MAAT, one of the best sights in Lisbon, and much more!

Our guide, Luis, went out of his way to make sure that our experience was memorable, interesting, and beyond what a guide would provide as we have done other tours in the past to compare. We spent time with him visiting and learning about the historical sites in the Belem area and the culture of Portugal. It was perfect for us!
