What you'll do

Leave your slippahs at the door. We’ll fold you into the party right away with personal introductions to our ‘ohana and a quick stop into the kitchen to bid our crew “aloha”. You’ll receive a printed menu with helpful anecdotes and a pair of chopsticks to take home as keepsake (you’ll need them for the passed pupus, first). Warm sake and chilled champers for those who can and want. Waters, too. On this night, the Winter Solstice, our menu is eclectic and festive, combining holiday traditions from all over the world (or, at least, from the Chef’s life experiences). Enjoy passed pupus inspired by the tradition of seven fishes, a tropical take on hot & sour soup, dueling mole sauces… be bold, try everything! Arrive hungry. Arrive ready to explore what the solstice means to you, and what it means to others. Ke Ala Polohiwa a Kanaloa! (The Black Glistening Path of Kanaloa AKA when the sun hits its farthest point south in the sky AKA Winter Solstice).

Aloha! My name is Dusk. I was a chef living and working at Kalanihonua, a retreat center in Lower Puna on Big Island, Hawai'i, before Kīlauea erupted. Kaboom! Pele said, “Time for change.”

Today, I host “pop up” dinners at my off-grid home, tucked away in a fern & ‘ohia forest, and at other private venues.

I source from local farmers, fishermen, and ranchers, all right here on Big Island.

Come eat and talk story with me! I serve “ono grindz” (local favorites) with a contemporary twist, as well as familiar dishes from all over the world, with a Hawaiian twist.
