We all met up at the appointed place and time. There were only four of us taking the tour, which was fine by me; it was a very personalized experience. Ben gave each of us a loupe - a jeweler's glass - for up-close magnification. I had the honor of carrying the clever little handmade twig & reed basket for herb collection. He showed us plants one by one, explained where they could be found, specific aspects of identification: the what, when, where and why. We each braved nibbling on various leaves and berries. We skirted an open pasture & were soon under trees alongside the Menai Strait. At a random wood bench with a great view of the rapidly incoming tide, we stopped: tea time. A gent nearby was taking professionally lit photos of mushrooms on a tree. Ben poured hot water onto all our gathered leaves, including stinging nettles, and we each enjoyed a tasty and quite healthy herbal tea. The rest of the tour had us scouring for fungus, so we had a healthy dose of mycology.
Ten stars.
