What you'll do

We meet at the Scottish Parliament for a friendly introduction to the walk. We admire the modern Parliament building, as well as historic Holyrood Palace (the Queen's official home). To begin the walk we escape the crowds & cars, and explore a quiet hidden valley. We then take an exciting detour, entering am old 500m railway tunnel that runs under the edge of Arthur's Seat. Most visitors (and locals!) never discover this. Emerging back into daylight, we walk under basalt cliffs to peaceful Duddingston Loch, with views over the loch and the Pentland hills. We come off the path to explore the lochside - another place that even most locals don't know about. There are many swans and ducks in the loch, and a rich variety of flowering plants and wild berries. We then explore the historic village of Duddingstone, with it's 12th Century church and its famous pub. A pub has stood on this site for over 650 years. A beautiful secret garden is our next stop, another place that hardly anyone in Edinburgh knows about! We then make the steep climb up Arthur's Seat, along a path that few people discover. From the top, we admire panoramic views Edinburgh, before walking back to the start.
