What you'll do

We will print on cotton kitchen towel or a napkins well as handmade paper. This will be yours to take home. I will start with a short talk on the textiles in India, the different types of printing, difference between dyeing, printing and weaving. I will briefly cover printing, tie and dye, batik and different weaves.Feel free to ask questions at any time. Then , I will show you how to mix the colours and we will experiment printing on newspaper.... this part is a lot of fun, as we can use all the colours and many blocks, and really be free to experiment. When you all are ready to go...we will move onto printing the fabric. We will discuss which blocks to use, colour combinations and the placement of the blocks and the overall design. And...we are ready to go. We will print on the fabric and on the paper, and then we Weill leave these to dry. The whole session is very interactive and I welcome questions, and normally the conversation meanders into other topics, India, culture travel etc etc. We will finish with a cup of chai, and you can then leave with your printed masterpiece.
