What you'll do

Aah yes, the beautiful pictures of Aurora Borealis! The best that Lapland has to offer, the Northern Lights, right?

Im going to be totally honest with you: To see the Borealis is all about luck. Thats why I want you to experience other great Lappish things; to have a good time for four hours with open fire, two different types of huts / wickets, traditional Lappish / Finnish food & treats, stories, lake views, the polar night, the surrounding nature and atmosphere. And if we are lucky, the skies are clear and the universe serves us right, the Borealis will add a final touch to our shared traditional Lappish experience in the winter nature.

Heres what is going to happen:
– I will pick you up at 18.00 sharp
– A drive of about 20 kilometers away from the city´s light pollution.
– A short walk through the night forrest to the lake
– We start a fire in the hut.
– Free hanging around the area, spotting the borealis ect. while I cook.
– The Dinner
– We can try to figure out do the Borealis really hum...
– I will watch the borealis radar
– If theres no Borealis by the lake, we head on top Ounasvaara for different views & change for Sledging
– I will drop you off where you want
Other things to note
The car we use is a 2017 Dacia Duster 4x4.
I have warm clothes & shoes to borrow but they are not the latest fashion.

What a great evening with Antti, learning about Finland & Lapland (the nature, the people, the history, the culture), sharing stories around the fire pit. Despite the weather forecast (cold, rainy, cloudy, so no Aurora, but we had already viewed them a couple of nights ago), we had an amazing time with Antti in the forest, and enjoyed the warmth of the fire pits (we did not feel cold once, good clothing is of course required). Whatever the weather and Aurora forecast, we recommend this experience, you will get to learn new things about this beautiful country and create unique memories.

A Lapland experience with Antti is well worth it. He’s a warm, funny, inquisitive, interesting and knowledgeable guy, who makes sure that your outdoor evening is enjoyable, comfortable and educational. He made sure to communicate every detail in advance, and picked us up right on time at our hotel. We loved hanging out with him at the lake, sitting by the fire and eating traditional food, and even though it was too cloudy to see the Aurora, we still had such a wonderful experience with him. We wished we could have spent even more time with him. Definitely plan an experience with him if you go to Rovamieni.

It was a super impressive experience with Antti! We walked in the forest at night, made camp fire and had great food and drink in a hut, and we even had a chance to play sledges. Antti is very friendly, thoughtful and warm-hearted. Although we didn’t succeed in spotting the aurora light, it was still a pleasant and wonderful 4 hours spending with him.

I really enjoyed this experience. Antti took us to two different places on the search for the aurora. We didnt get to see it, but we could enjoy a beautiful nightsky and nice locations. Antti prepared a very special, local dinner, also a tasty desert. We got to sit around fireplaces, walk through the snowy forest and had the opportunity to sleigh. Only thing I would probably prefer to be slightly different, is the starting time, since we waited quite a while until it got dark. All in all, i had a great time. Thank you, Antti!

The experience with Antti was amazing.. although we didn't see the Borealis, but the other things we did was really great.. he took us into the woods .. we sat inside a finish wooden cabin with fireplace.. he made some authentic finish food for us.. made us some mushroom tea.. some vegan sausage. And then we also did sledging.. that was our first time we did sledging and it was amazing. A day well spent! ❤️
