What you'll do

My nature photography walks exist to deepen our connection to nature, enriching us through walking and focused observation of the wonders and magic of the natural world.

They are based upon my own experience of walking through nature with my camera in various environments around the world!

We will meet at the cafe of Hastings Victorian-era Alexandra Park - home to more than 1000 tree specimens and hundreds of plants!

There we will chat a little over a tea / coffee (on me!), and talk about the workshop. I will provide resources and information including the history of the park + simple talking exercises to get the creative juices flowing.

Finally we will set off on a gentle guided walk through the park, observing and capturing some of the most beautiful trees, plants and views that the park offers.

You will gain practical techniques and advice to improve your photography with *any* camera.

Summary:
- Discover Hastings most beautiful park and its trees and plants via a gentle walk
- Immerse yourself in nature for an entire 2 hours
- Learn how to photograph nature and get the best from its colours and shapes using your camera or camera phone
- Gain new photography skills in an inspirational, relaxed and friendly environment
- Leave feeling calm and inspired with a set of great new photos that you can print at home

As an artist and photographer I believe in the power of observation as a means to connecting us to our environment and our community.

This belief has fuelled my 20 year career working with and for global media and galleries including Tate Modern, V&A and The Guardian.

I am also a gardener with excellent plant knowledge & an increasing passion for bringing nature into my work & life. I photograph plants and trees on a near daily basis and have recently exhibited a series of some of these photographs in Hastings.

Originally from London, I moved to Hastings for it’s fresh sea air, charming old town, art galleries & incredible views.

I am delighted that as well as the sea, Hastings also has an abundance of green space & plants in & around it, inspiring creativity & connection to nature.

Where you'll be

The Victorian era Alexandra Park in the centre of Hastings is home to a staggering number of trees & plants.

Loved among locals, I will take you to some of my favourite trees and spots in the park which, like the giant Gingko next to the Peace Garden.

The lovely cafe in the centre of the park is a favourite hang out of families & dog walkers & has a wide variety of drinks & snacks (GF, Vegan & DF options).

We had lovely and relaxing time with Georgina in the park. She put us at ease right from the beginning. We liked chatting about a positive effects being in nature and we appreciated that Georgina brought gardening books to inspire us. We liked to collect natural materials for our final art activity. We felt energised and we recommend to book with Georgina. All the best Klara and Nath

I found Georgina a very friendly and helpful guide for this photography walk. She freely shared her knowledge and experience and was well prepared with additional material such as books, backgrounds and information to make the experience enjoyable and to increase photographic knowledge. The cost of the session was very reasonable for 2.5 hours and included a tea/coffee. During the introduction at the beginning of the session she explained the opportunities on offer at the park and sought out my specific interests. I highly recommend this excellent experience, you will enjoy it.
