I was born in a house on the westside of the river Zaan. This street was painted by an unknown artist in 1750 and later by the famous french impressionist painter Monet. What we’ll do

We will meet at the rainbowcrossing that symbolizes the tolerant atmosphere of our city today. We will walk the street “Westzijde” that is dutch for westside of the river Zaan. I will tell the stories about the houses and buildings. Anyone can take pictures and ask questions. We will end the walk back at the rainbowcrossing in the center of the city, near the busses and trainstation. One side of…

This walk will require a certain physical fitness. We will not walk fast, but we will be standing and looking around and walk along the street to watch the buildings and listen to the stories.

Where you'll be

The rainbowcrossing is in the center of the city near busses and trainstation and shops, hotels and restaurants. The view of the river is great. The street has houses, offices and churches. The first ten buildings were taken down to make room for a bridge in 1958. The original tollbridge from 1882 was for pedestrians only.
