What you'll do

After meeting at a local train station, easily accessible from the cities of Sheffield and Manchester, we’ll run through the gears etc. and ensure the bike is set up to suit you. We will ride at a leisurely pace and enjoy stops along the way to discover the hidden past of this beautiful area and take in the splendid scenery of the Park District National Park. If you like big views and want to enjoy the social as much as the ride then our Pudding and Ale vintage bike tour is for you. Starting and finishing at the ancient Peak District village of Bamford you’ll adventure north on the traffic-free Thornhill Trail, an easy going start. You’ll take in some gentle up and downs as you follow the quiet gravel road along the shores of Derwent Reservoir, where you’ll enjoy great views across the Dark Peak and Derwent Valley beyond. On your return we take in a pub stop at the welcoming Yorkshire Bridge Inn where you can enjoy either a traditional Yorkshire Pudding with gravy or a Bakewell Pudding, and a pint of the local ale. You’ll soon be refreshed for the short ride back to the station on country lanes. From here it is around a 20 minute train journey back to the bustling centre of Sheffield.
Join our retro bike ride and be guided by local experts as you journey through the beautiful Peak District countryside. You'll explore new places and have a great time!

We have been living, riding and working in and around the Peak District for over 25 years and can't wait to share our specially selected routes with you!

All of our bicycles have been searched out and carefully chosen. Following a complete overhaul and service they are then given a test ride before being available to hire. They reflect the craftsmanship of the traditional British frame builders of the 1970s and 80s and are a joy to ride

Where you'll be

We will start our retro ride in the ancient Peak District village of Bamford. We'll soon pick up the Thornhill Trail, a disused railway line that runs up to the Ladybower Dam. We'll journey along the gravel trail around the beautiful Derwent Reservoir following waterside roads and traffic free trails before taking a traditional pub stop. There's some spectacular scenery to enjoy including water, woodlands, open moors and dramatic Victorian dams.

Such an incredible experience! You see so much, learn about history all while biking and taking in amazing views. Will our host was so lovely and easy to get along with/ talk to! We had a lovely day finished in the pub with a super yummy traditional Yorkshire and gluten free option for my friend! Would highly recommend this experience and be back in the future!

Good cycle track used, bikes in good condition. Will and Carol had a wealth of local knowledge to share. The pub, the Yorkshire puddings and the ale were excellent.

Will met us at Bamford Station and got us set up and on our way promptly and safely He’s a great host with a wealth of knowledge and experience The route is slightly challenging for a less seasoned cyclist but still very doable and I was still able to chat to Will and our lovely fellow rider along the way We had some of that lovely Derbyshire drizzle but it didn’t spoil the enjoyment - Make sure you bring appropriate clothing Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would recommend joining any of Will’s trip Thank you Will and Greta for being such great company

We had a fantastic time! We’re not seasoned riders and Will was very patient with us. The tour was very interesting and the views breathtaking. We’d do it all again. The pudding and ale was lovely towards the end and the cycle back was easy. I would highly recommend!
