What you'll do
The day will start with a walk in the beautiful hills to gather some of the materials we will then weave. Students will use a variety of seasonally available plants including wild ivy, moss, grass, bark, nettle, or bramble to create a unique basket to take home. What we make will be dictated by the seasons, but I will try to give options where possible. Let me know in advance if there is something you would particularly like to make, or a plant you are feeling called to work with.
Other things to note
Wild weaving walks will involve being outdoors on uneven ground, please let me know if you have any mobility issues and I will try to accommodate!
Please also let me know if you have any health concerns/you have been self shielding due to Covid 19, so we can discuss your needs.

I came to basketry through an interest in woodland management and heritage crafts, focusing on weaving in 2015 with a 2 year formal training at City Lit College, London. Here I studied many techniques, but have most recently been exploring the possibilities of plants growing local to the Dyfi Valley, having moved here in 2016. I work with moss, grass and bark alongside more traditional willow techniques to create vessels I hope are both useful and beautiful. I love sharing this unique way of connecting to environment through hands on workshops.

It was an adventure just getting to the location, which is beautiful. Jeanette is great, she knows her subject very well and selecting some of the materials from the environment made the day even more special. Unlike many such activities, the basket was finished by the end of the day. It is great to have something complete to take home. The whole day felt very covid safe, but beware steep means steep. Don't forget you wellies! Thoroughly recommended.

We had such a wonderful time. Jeanette was an absolute pleasure to meet and work with. She seemed so genuinely concerned that we had a good experience. She was so patient in her teaching and it was great to feel like I was really learning something new and getting lots of hands on experience. We brought our 3 young children with us and she went above and beyond to accommodate special circumstances. It was a day well spent and we love our little basket!

Thoroughly enjoyed the basket making experience, wonderful location and Jeanette was both a good teacher and friendly as a person. Although we were there during a stormy spell in January we were comfortable and hardly noticed the weather during the experience.
