What you'll do

Hi! My name is Silvia and I live in Burano, a delightful island in the lagoon of Venice, known for its technicolor little houses and the charming atmosphere of its secret corners. My intent is to show you the most authentic, colourful, interesting and fun side of this amazing little island. After meeting the public vaporetto stop we will walk until Corte Comare, an enchanting little square with rainbow coloured houses, perfect to be photographed and then reach a beautiful view of the lagoon from where you can admire Mazzorbo, S. Francesco del Deserto, and in the distance the beautiful Venice. Crossing the Three Bridges we will then reach the Giudecca district, my favorite of all the 5 boroughs of Burano (in fact my orange house is right here, haha), and home to dozens of the best fishermen of the island. With a little luck we will admire them at work with their catch of the day: branzini, moeche and gò, the small fish with which the typical risotto of Burano is made. Walking a little further along quiet and surprising streets we will arrive at Piazza Galuppi, home of the Church where a masterpiece by Giambattista Tiepolo is treasured, and the famous Merletti "lace" School, before continuing to other unique and unforgettable corners. Follow me and you will discover the real Burano and its people (inhabitants 2860).

Silvia

Ciao! My name is Silvia, nice to meet you! I was born and raised in the island of Burano, and I am a licensed tour guide, a business woman and a mum. I firmly believe that the best way of visiting a place is that of being guided by local people, heeding their advice and listening to their stories. My purpose is transmitting to tourists the feeling to be visiting a people’s community rather than a museum; not a visit to “postcard places”, but a path that becomes a dialogue with the place you are visiting. Welcome to my Burano.

Where you'll be

This walking tour has a duration of about 1h and 30 minutes, and covers the secret and the famous corners of Burano, getting in touch as much as possible with the real people and the real traditions of this incredible island, included in the UNESCO World Heritage. We will see hudreds of the typical little houses painted like a rainbow, the famous fishermen's boats and the real handmade lace that makes Burano famous in the world. The path is easy and involves just a few bridges to cross, and for Instagram lovers, I promise incredible pictures to post!!! #DiscoverBuranowithSilvia
