*Hear about the island's long history.
* Learn about the peak of the Minoan culture in 2000 B.C.
*Hear about the first palace of Knossos, erected shortly after the Pyramids of Egypt and the Stonehenge, and how the happy life of Knossos residents came to an abrupt end in 1700 B.C. when a catastrophic earthquake destroyed the palace.
*Delve into the mythology of Minoan culture, and hear about the elaborate labyrinth built to contain the Queen’s son, the half-man half-bull monster called Minotaur.
*Hear the story of Sir Arthur Evans, a British archaeologist who excavated and studied the Palace of Knossos for more than 30 years so that today's guests can appreciate the grandeur and complexity of the palace and get a glimpse of the most important palace of the Minoans, Europe’s first advanced and highly sophisticated culture.
After Knossos, you will have a guided tour of Heraklion's Archaeological Museum, where the Minoan antiquities are kept.

Our morning with Eleni at Knossos and thereafter the museum was absolutely worth it! In fact it was a highlight of our trip to Crete. Away from the main crowds stringing through the ruins, Eleni took us systematically step by step through the different sections and treasures of Knossos, through it’s deep history and impact on what we know as Greece (and also Europe) today, and the roles of Minos Kalokairinos and Arthur Evans to bring knowledge of this ancient place and culture forward. Simply highly recommended!

So worth it! A very in-depth view of the local history, in a remarkable setting. Eleni was extremely knowledgeable and kind, and answered all of our questions.

Eleni is very knowledgable about the palace and history of the Minoan people. She explains how Sir Arthur Evans worked out his theories about the Minoan civilisation, linking artefacts to theories. It is left to you to judge if these century old theories are valid. We have talked a lot about what we heard and saw and how it could be differently interpreted. Well worth a morning and much more engaging and interactive than a simple audio tour. Recommended.

Eleni is a great guide and very helpful. The tour in Knossos is good. But we learned at the museum that due to the new restriction in museum we couldn't have a guided tour. Fortunately, Eleni handled the situation and came up with an alternative solution. When the tour ended she also gave me great recommendation for restaurants.

Eleni is a great tour guide, she explains the details of the Knossos Palace and the history related. She also answered all my questions of ancient Crete. The tour in the museum is also very knowledgeable, from which I learned a lot about the frescos and historical relics. She also provided helpful information of the transportation and the highlights of the city. It’s been a wonderful experience.
