What you'll do

We will be painting with watercolours in some of the most dramatic and beautiful locations in the Snowdonia National Park. Many of the locations require a bit of walking but nothing too strenuous. I will demonstrate my approach to watercolour sketching and guide you through the whole process to produce your own watercolour masterpiece. Betws-y-Coed will be our central meeting place before setting out on our adventure.
Other things to note
We may be traveling to local areas once we have met up.

I am a professional landscape watercolour artist with over 25 years of experience, painting in and around the beautiful scenic locations of both Snowdonia and the Lake District. I regularly hold workshops and teach at established art groups in North Wales. I love painting and walking in these amazing places and have produced many works over the years inspired by the ever changing light and atmosphere. Examples of my work can be seen on my website and at galleries in Llandudno and Grasmere.

Chris was very helpful with everyone in the group (all of us beginners) and provided all the required equipment, even camping chairs. He demonstrated each step of the process and then we would attempt to do the same. I felt like the session could have been longer to allow the paint to dry between the steps, so that we could have had a more finished painting to put up in our house as a reminder of a lovely holiday. I would recommend as a lovely relaxing way to be outdoors with beautiful views

Had a good time despite the occasionally poor weather. Chris was a good host and thought us the basics of watercolouring which was great since we had never done it before. It was a nice relaxed experience where we learned a new skill and at the same time enjoyed the beautiful nature.

Had the most amazing time. Booked this as an activity for our wedding anniversary. Chris was very nice, especially when we rang to say we were lost on our way to the meeting point! And then Chris took us to a lovely vantage point. He was patient and encouraging. The most relaxing and 4 hour activity we’ve ever done, and it’s sparked a now wonderful weekend hobby! Chris was considerate with all the social distance measures; we felt very safe and it didn’t take away the loveliness of the activity. Would greatly recommend.

Chris is a wonderful host with a great knowledge of the local area and his craft. I would highly recommend that you take the opportunity to go take in the beauty spots and have a relaxing coached watercolour session. Being a novice Chris' expertise really helped and at the end I produced a piece that didn't look like a dogs dinner, which shocked me.

Chris is a great teacher who takes you through step by step showing you how to paint a landscape painting. He took us to a beautiful viewing spot and set us up with chair and little table - he provides all the equipment and was very encouraging. A lovely peaceful afternoon.

This is a wonderful experience.. I had very minimal experience and left feeling really happy with my painting and a hunger to do more. It’s a relaxing way to spend a few hours. Chris is very friendly and knowledgeable. 5 out of 5 stars!
