What you'll do

We’ll discover beautiful canals, secret gardens and forgotten railways, stopping along the way to sample some of East London's best Asian cafes, restaurants and food shops.  Let’s start at the busy Dalston Junction Station (see photo) - just 20 minutes from Oxford Circus - and explore this lively urban area, bursting with bars, cactus shops (yes cactus shops!) vintage stores, cafes and bookshops.  Then follow me down a secret alley and let's grab some matcha, before we discover some amazing hidden treasures of the East End, including warehouses, railway arches and even a secluded floating village! For lunch, we'll visit a special independent Japanese cafe for a yummy feast of handmade onigiri rice balls, delicious miso soup and Japanese tea. You can browse some of the lovely art and ceramics in the cafe's gallery, all created by local artists, which you can even buy as an amazing souvenir! Finally, after a quick stop for dessert in the nearby Vietnamese food district, we'll visit one of London's best loved Asian supermarkets where we can shop for bubble tea, instant ramen and more fun snacks. Our tour will end near Shoreditch - East London's famous ‘hipster’ area.

Mark

I live in London's trendy East End where I work as an architectural curator, tour guide and general city lover! Part-time, I'm also a hopefully rising cabaret 'star', performing at various lgbt+, drag and alternative venues across the East End where I sing, play piano, tell stories and basically have a fun time with lots of exciting people :) I usually spend my free time catching cabaret shows, exploring nice craft shops and thrift stores, and nibbling my way through yummy cakes and treats in some of London's AMAZING cafes and cake shops, which I can show you when you visit !
