What you'll do

How would you like to learn to play the "Congas in just 15 minutes"? I'm excited to share this new approach to learning for almost anyone of any age. Known as "Tumbao", "Marcha" or "Rhythm Pattern", you can learn to play this basic Conga pattern used in most popular music today in just 15 minutes.

In this two-hour audience participation show, I take you through the history of how the Conga drums have influenced American Music (8 minutes), followed by the "15 minute Conga" lesson, and 60 to 70 minute audience play along to rhythms such as Jazz, Rock, Latin, Soul, Funk, R&B and Pop. We end the lesson with "Oh When The Saints Come Marching In".

During the show, I'll also play several Conga Rhythyms from my recently published book to hopefully enlighten the audience to the history of this instrument. Participants will take home a printed copy free of charge of the music they just learned, to practice at home.

No experience needed. Learn to play the most popular rhythm patterns and learn to READ THE NOTES "GUARANTEED". Play along for an experience like no other. This is an audience participation show.

After high school, I studied percussion under Frank Gagliardi at University Nevada Las Vegas.
I took conga lessons from Rogelio Darias, percussionist, and piano at the Community College under Cynthia Harris Ryan. I studied the Berklee College of Music Course, Music Theory and Keyboard under Paul Schmeling at Berklee College of Music.

My life took a surprising turn when I became interested in business. At age 21, I became a General Contractor. After thirty-eight years in construction, I gave it all up to follow my dream of playing music.

I converted my office into a music studio and have been teaching ever since.

I was looking for something fun and different to do during my stay in Lake Worth, Florida. When I saw “learn to play congas in 15 minutes” under things to do on the Airbnb app I was immediately excited! I love percussion and had always wanted to learn to play a percussion instrument. This class was phenomenal!!! I loved the history lessons, learning how to read the notes, learning to listen to music in a new, and it was so much fun practicing what I learned with so many different songs. I was so inspired that I am looking into purchasing a conga of my own so that I can continue to practice and take lessons. I would recommend this class to anyone visiting the area. Manny is awesome!
