What you'll do

Kamakura is a traditional town built by Samurai 800 years ago.
Let's explore the beautiful town with a friendly guide. Though Kamakura is a popular destination, you can get off the beaten path and visit peaceful sites on this tour. We walk through a local neighborhood and go to temples and shrines worshiped by Japanese. You can take beautiful pictures at each site and on the way.
In a Zen Buddhist temple, you will see magnificent buildings, statues, and Japanese gardens. You will feel the meditation mind there.
The next is a Shinto Shrine believed as a deity of wealth. They say the magical water increases your money to double or triple. Let's try it as same as locals.
The third site is a Shrine with many red gates and fox dolls. It's a beautiful red tunnel way best for taking impressive pictures. You can walk through them. People believe this Shrine brings success to one's life.
You will learn the traditional beauty, religious background, and people's customs deeper with this tour.
Don’t worry! It’s not only educational but also very fun.
I was born and grown-up in Japan. While we are walking, we can talk about many things. About Japan, culture, family, sports, food, society, and anything!
You will understand not only traditional but also modern Japan and people. It will make your travel much more interesting.
Let's enjoy walking and talking with me!

I recommend this tour. The guide was well prepared for our tour. Although I had been to some of these places, I received further information on these sites. The hike was pretty good; however there was a 10-15 minute portion that is a bit tricky if one has physical limitations. It gives perspective on the history of the area. A plus is that he speaks excellent English which is helpful.

This was a great experience! For everyone who comes to Kamakura, I highly recommend this tour, you’ll get to know, see and participate in Japanese traditions and now I can say I understand much more. Masa san is a professional, he knows how to address the subject, very accurate in explanations and relaxed pace. And beautiful nature along the tour is priceless! In February the plums are blossoming! Thank you very much, Mass san!

Masa showed me an inside view of Kamakura, I really enjoyed the experience. We walked on a route through town and on a few trails that I never would have found on my own. What I enjoyed most was that Masa had a strong understanding of local history and was willing to answer all of my cultural questions. Visiting shrines and temples without a local guide to help you absorb what's going on would be a wasted opportunity. This was an ideal way to get to know the beautiful city of Kamakura.

It was a long and sometimes challenging walk but the entire time Masa-san made me feel safe and comfortable. He is very knowledgable about the history of the places that we went to. He talked about the architecture as well as the story behind the people that were involved in establishing the temples. It was a really great experience!
