What you'll do

It would be rude of us not to offer you a coffee before getting started properly. So, we will stop for a quick coffee and a tasty treat. Instead of one of the famous Viennese coffee houses, where mainly tourists wait in line, we will head to one of the few cafes that locals visit in the 1st District, a quirky and well-functioning “Kulturcafe”. Then, we browse one of Europe’s most famous markets – “Naschmarkt” - before heading to one of our off-the-beaten-track outer-district markets. There, you learn the locals’ secret to “Gemütlichkeit” and why Vienna is placed so high in the “most livable city” rankings. Then, we discover where the locals go for the best coffee in the city, graze on a number of sweet and savory delights, hand-picked by your guide from street stalls, markets and trendy cafes we pass along the way.
Other things to note
The tour will take 4 hours. We provide a very authentic tour which is personable, entertaining and full of interesting stories about Vienna together with great food, pastries and Coffeestops

We design tours to give you an insider look into Vienna’s culture, off the beaten track. We started this Air BnB experience to give travelers a chance to walk the streets with a local. We love our city, its wide range of food and people and, especially, what we do!
Wolfgang: successfully worked in the restaurant/hotel business as an
owner/manager. Patrick: worked in various fields from selling vinegar at a market to IT support. Kerstin: is a very successful tour guide and has been working with people with special needs for a long time. Lena: has been working in restaurants her whole life and is a perfect fit for our culinary and sporty tours. John: entrepreneur with a specialty in political science. Verena: After years as a hospitality expert in Europe and the U.S., Verena is finally back in “her” city and sharing it with friends!

Where you'll be

First, we go to a 1st District “Kulturcafe” where we will taste the famous “Kaiserschmarrn” and apple strudel or “Apfelstrudel” in a very authentic café where locals and artists hang out. Then, we will go to the outer Districts, where you will find the most typical of the famous Viennese cuisine. This includes a very busy farmer’s market, a typical Viennese “Würstelstand”, as well as Turkish bakery

Engaging, personable experience. Not just an excellent food tour (and it was!), but also focused on art, history, culture, current events and architecture. Superb selection of foods and neighborhoods throughout Vienna. Make sure you skip breakfast before the tour. You’ll need to leave lots of room! Wolfgang was very friendly, knowledgeable, polite and considerate. So glad we went. HIGHLY recommended!!

When I saw the cost of the experience, I was worried that the cost would not match up to the experience. I had no need to worry. Wolfie is a knowledgeable and personable guide who made sure my husband and I were ready to burst at the end of this tour. We went to several different districts and tried many different types of foods, everything unique, and everything delicious. Everything was a hit on this tour. I'm so glad I booked this tour, and I hope that you (whoever it is that's reading this) book it as well! You will NOT need to eat before this tour, and you'll surely not need lunch after. Communication was easy before-hand, and Wolfie offered many tips to help us to enjoy our trip in Vienna to the fullest.

Die Food tour mit Wolfgang war wirklich super. Wir haben einige nicht touristische Lokale besucht und viele typische Gerichte probiert. Ich würde diese Tour jedem empfehlen. Und man soll unbedingt hungrig kommen :)

This experience was fantastic from beginning to end. Wolfi is a native Austrian who has lived all over the world. He has personally picked out the stops all along his tour to ensure that his guests are given the most authentic experience of food and sights in Vienna. He also gave us recommendations for the rest of our trip as well as our day trip to Bratislava. We couldn't recommend this experience more!

Exploring a new place with a local is always the best way to start an adventure and Wolfgang’s food tour of Vienna did not disappoint. Armed with an empty belly and a whole dose of enthusiasm I was led through Vienna by a knowledgeable guide introducing me to lots of delicious food and a plethora of Austrian facts. It turned out I was the only person booked on the tour and I can only say a massive thank you to Wolfgang for continuing with this day for me. Not only did I eat the most incredible goulash and cheese sausage (amongst many other delicious morsels) but I also explored areas I would have never seen as a tourist. It set me up for the rest of my holiday in the best possible way. If you are visiting Vienna and love food, book on this tour and enjoy every second.

Patrick was our host for this fine experience that opened the door to Vienna. We took the U several stops to discover a friendly family-owned bakery where we tasted delicious donuts & cakes with freshly roasted coffee. Patrick greeted friends on the street & in the shops & we loved this local connection. Patrick is sincere and engaging, always inquiring about food preferences. We had an appointment at the dancing school just after the tour & Patrick made sure we arrived promptly. Highly recommend this tour with its local insights & taste treats. Come hungry!
