What you'll do

Mexico City is one of the most cultural cities in all Latin America, and it is the biggest Spanish speaking city in all the world. Its tradition and its food are sublime and unique. In the high parts of the mountains that cover the valley, there is a huge national park, named "Desierto de los Leones". It is my favorite place to have breakfast and to walk through a classical ancient forest. First, we can meet at "La Mexicana Park", a very well-known park in the middle of Santa Fe district. Then, I will drive directly to Desierto de los Leones; it is a 20 minute ride. Arriving the park, we will have some black corn quesadillas and a typical piloncillo coffee to gain some energy. After finishing our food, we will visit the ancient convent, a gorgeous construction in the middle of the forest; inside this place there are enormous gardens of flowers, secret tunnels and historical monuments. After the cultural part of the tour, we will explore the nature of this amazing protected area; we will walk through pads that connect the mountains, immerse in the forest. We will go to the best opened views of the city, rivers and canals, hidden spots and more. After the tour, I will take you back to the returning point “La Mexicana Park”.

Learn more about Arturo

Arturo

My name is Arturo Robles. I have lived in Mexico City most of my life, I am 26 years old. I write literature, short stories and condense messages, but I have many hobbies; I love to play tennis and to box, also I enjoy good cinema, art, outdoor exploration and astronomy. Desierto de los Leones has been a great place for me and my dogs. Since I was very young, I have been coming to the forest, to relax my mind and my body, and to eat some good quesadillas. The exercise at almost 4000 meters of altitude is great for the mind, but strong for the legs; the air here is very pure because the forest keeps it clean. I have some good knowledge of Mexico City’s geography, I have been involved in an organization that reforest the most important lungs in the city, and study the variety of plants and wild animals that live in this magic ecosystems.
