What you'll do

This is a small private tour. Often only 4/5 guests.
We meet George Square, between the Lions.
For the 10.30 tour we focus on Glasgow’s city centre it’s mysterious history and association with tobacco and slavery. Walking around the city centre ending at Glasgow Cross the heart of the Medieval city.
The tour examines how Glasgow went from being a small rural medieval city around 500 CE to the world's powerhouse with a population of over a million people.
The city has re-invented itself several times and is now transforming itself into one of worlds most beautiful cities from an ugly industrial despoiled blot.
Trace the slave trade and the ruthless barons who profited from the mysery of millions of africans. But before them it was Scotsmen who were enslaved to colonies in the Americas.
We explore Glasgow's complex social, religous and political past when tanks patrolled Glasgow city centre and riots led to executions at Glasgow Cross.
Glasgow has it all from political religous and social strife.
Gordon is a great raconteur, a trained actor with a comedic talent.
Starting George Square, through the financial district (Glasgow's fifth avenue), Buchanan street then exploring the Merchant City, Hutcheson's Hosptial, Ramshorn Kirk, Old fruit market, Tron Kirk and Steeple then down to the Medieval High street and Mercat Cross.

I am born and bred GLASWEGIAN. I grew up when GLasgow was one of the ugliest and deprived cities in the world. I now take visitors beneath the surface to what makes GLASGOW!

I try to make the tours both entertaining and interesting. I've trained as an actor so I can tell a good story.
I can direct you to good restaurants, Where the best eating and entertainement spots are.
I uncover Glasgow's secrets, its slave trade connection, the source of its wealth, the poverty, politics and humour of Glasgow.
Working previously in the legal and business community I have a real in depth understanding of my city.
Covid: I am double vacinated and have twice weekly Covid bi lateral tests.

This tour was great for our first day in Glasgow. Gordon was very knowledgeable and a fabulous storyteller! It wasn't TOO much walking and I was relieved. The pace we kept was good for everyone in our group. Gordon's recommendations for lunch at the end of our tour were fantastic. It was more than evident that Gordon loves his city and is proud to introduce visitors to the highlights!

Highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to explore Glasgow City with a true Scot gentleman! I’m an international student at the University of Glasgow, but I have never lived here for long since all my classes were online due to COVID. Gordon guided us from the George Square, telling a ton of historical stories. I really enjoyed it when he talked. There’s a wee lovely Glaswegian accent but it’s not a big deal, mostly understandable. In the afternoon, I joined Gordon to the Hamilton trip, which was a fantastic walk, too. I’ll write the details in that one’s review:)

Great tour with some fascinating history and facts. Gordon is great and reeled off poetry and had a wealth of knowledge. Was a great way to get a feel for Glasgow.

We had an inspiring Glasgow tour from Gordon today. He has a delightful knack for weaving history into an interesting story and we learnt so much about Glasgow today, he even kept the teenagers interested. We would recommend one of Gordon's informative tours if you are new to Glasgow or want to understand more about how Glasgow has become the great city it is today. Thanks Gordon!

Gordon was a great guide! I was nervous at the start due to the larger group numbers for the tour. Gordon made sure I did not stress & had a lot of detailed stories to tell about the city! I am glad I went for the tour. It was accommodating to each person and Gordon made sure everyone was comfortable. If anyone on airbnb is looking to have a tour of Glasgow, make sure to book here :)

Fantastic tour guide with lots of interesting facts and stories about the city. Pitched at the perfect level for us and squeezed a lot into the time but didn’t feel at all rushed - even managed to see the film set for the new Indiana Jones film being set up. Would definitely recommend.
