What you'll do

We will agree a day and a time in the morning which is convenient for you. I will welcome you and explain about the birds we are likely to see. I will lend you my binoculars and explain how they work. Than we'll head off walking a little tour of about 3,5 km in total on reasonable flat terrain. We will hear by occasion the nightingale, the golden oriole, several woodpeckers, and we might see European bee-eaters and golden eagles who bread in this area. Depending the weather and the season, we might observe about 35 different bird species on this tour! As we walk from the trotten trails, it will be quiet enough to learn and enjoy the concert of the birds. When we arrive at the spectacular coloured soil, I will tell you about the history of this beautiful Ocre site. You will have time to make stunning pictures. I will serve you a refreshment and we walk back through a beautiful forest. Back again, we'll evaluate what we've seen. The tour will take about 2,5 hours. You're allowed to remain longer on the site and do a walk on your own.

Elske

I am Dutch, passionate about birds, and I've been birdwatching since my youngest age. I've been trained to recognize birds by their song in a youth environment club in The Netherlands and I keep finetuning eversince: e.g. during holidays the only book I read is a birdwatching book. I feel so lucky to have moved to an area in France with a spectacular scenery, a fascinating industrial history and many special birds in one: the Colorado of Rustrel. With joy I share knowledge and enthousiasm about birds with you!
