What you'll do
Being a small group of up to 6, we'll start by getting an idea of the size and importance of the ancient city and, while strolling around the historic city centre, we'll discover landmarks and stories that unveil Athens's multidimensional character. We'll find answers to questions such as: Where it all started? When did ancient Athens die? What is new and what is old around me? Why is there so much traffic? What about the street art scene? How do Athenians hang out? And many more which will come up during our walk. Having all the information about both the old and contemporary city, you will be able to decide where to spend most of your time afterwards. Oh! And did I mention that a breathtaking view to both Acropolis and the sea will wait for us at the end? Bonus: after the walk, I'll share a google map with suggestions on what to see, do and where to enjoy tasty food and the best drinks, during the rest of your stay! All tried by my friends and I and definitely not tourist traps ;) Still having doubts if this experience is suitable for you? Have a look at the reviews. They can be really helpful..
Since 2013, I've been welcoming guests, usually on their first day to Athens and before their way to some Greek island. Combining my knowledge of the city secrets as a local and my teaching skills of an earlier career of mine, my aim is to give you a multidimensional presentation of Athens, orientate you in its busy streets and quiet alleys and make you feel welcome and well prepared for the rest of your stay. This walk usually becomes the spark that makes visitors realise that this city deserves more time than maybe originally planned. And I am very happy when I receive most of them as they come to visit us again, this time as a friend.
