What you'll do

If you need a better understanding of fabric, how to determine the right fabric for your project and where to buy fabric in the DFW area, then this experience is for you. We will tour the Perth Street Fabric District and learn how to shop at Fabric Outlets. We will meet up at one of the stores in the fabric outlet district and commence our walking tour to the 5 stores on that street. Additionally there is an option to tour one more fabric outlet 1 block from the other stores. Each participant will be given a notebook with specific notes about each outlet and extra space to place swatches and other notes. Along the way there will be interactive discussions, Q&A and an opportunity to purchase fabrics.

Carla And Arthur

My mom taught me to sew at 6 years old and I received a BA in Costume and Textile Design in 1985. For the last 40 + years I have been a costume designer, custom dressmaker for weddings, proms, uniforms until I felt the call to teach sewing classes in 1999. Teaching local, private sewing classes has helped me to develop my own style of interacting with students by keeping the classes small, to have direct interaction with the students. It also enabled me to heed the call to teach classes internationally in Kenya and Papua New Guinea where women needed encouragement in learning this skill.
