What you'll do

This walking tour will take you into parts of Dublin and its history and social fabric that you would not experience on the more conventional walking tours of Dublin. This tour will help you feel and understand the varied faces of this rapidly changing capital city as it leaves behind its past of poverty, conservatism and grayness and embraces a more tolerant, cosmopolitan and globalized future. The tour is divided in 15 individual stops across the inner city of Dublin . Starting at Connolly railway station I will meet and greet our small group ( max 7 people) and walk over to our first stop at the top of Talbot street in Dublin to a memorial to victims of an atrocity in 1974 during the "troubles". Here we will explore the reasons for these troubles in Ireland After our first stop we will explore the city thru the following themes: Sex and morality Poverty Georgian elegance Writers and rebels Demographics Anglo Irish ascendancy COFFEE BREAK Viking city Retail therapy Golden age Act of union Female bridge 1916 rebellion An Gorta Mor ( famine) Modern Ireland This tour is designed to be interactive and the themes above will be presented in a light format

Marc

Hello and thank you for stopping by. My name is Marc and I am lucky enough to work as a tour guide here in my beautiful birthplace: Ireland. . . the emerald island. Dublin has become a very popular destination in recent years and I have many years experience in taking people to all the usual interesting but busy sites Therefore I have put together an alternative inner city walking tour to help make Ireland's and Dublin's history less mysterious to visitors. This interactive tour will explain Dublin's transition from an economic backwater to a European tech capital
