What you'll do

Nestled in the South Bronx is my design studio, where I will be giving you a tour of my office building, handmade studio machines, and looms. We will start our workshop with a small talk about the Bronx's urban agriculture and how we grow our dye and instruct on our small-scale homesteading practices. This will lead to weaving fabric from our stock of fibers in the studio. Then, you will get a loom, knitting, or crochet kit to choose from. You will be instructed on how to use the textile kit when you get home. All of the materials are included in the workshop. Please bring an extra bag with you to take home your work. My studio is in an artist loft in the Downtown sector of The Bronx. A light lunch and drinks will be provided while you are in our artist space. If you would like to visit our office art gallery during your visit, please request ahead of time.

I'm a clothing and textile artist running a sustainable lifestyle brand in the South Bronx. I also develop small farms in the South Bronx where we grow natural dyes for a community program called the Natural Knitting Project. So far the Natural Knitting Project has traveled to Hong Kong, Taiwan, and has resulted in an exhibit book published with Barnes and Noble. I have been featured in the New York Times and Fader Magazine for my sustainable arts and agriculture activism and have designed many community exhibits for New York, my latest has received an award from the New York City Council.
