What you'll do

Nestled in the South Bronx is my design studio where I will be giving you a tour of my handmade studio machines and looms. We will start our workshop cleaning and dye sheep's wool using natural dyes grown in the small community farms in the Bronx. I will give a small talk about the Bronx's urban agriculture and how we grow our dye as well as instruct on our small-scale homesteading practices. This will lead to weaving fabric from our stock of fibers in the studio. You will have your choice of looms to choose from our collection and you will even get a chance to spin some wool on our handmade spinning wheels. You will be about to take home your designed fabric. All of the materials are included in the workshop. Please bring an extra bag with you to take home your work. My studio is private and decorated with community artist work from around the world. A light lunch and drinks will be provided while you spin and weave your way to an original textile fabric of your own.

Where you'll be

You will be visiting an up-and-coming artists community in the Longwood/Hunts Point section of the South Bronx. You will see sculptures from local community artist in the Bronx before making your way to my design studio. My studio is a converted residential apartment in a 100 years old building. Many artists in the Bronx have done this to display art and show the public spaces they would normally never get the chance to see.
