What you'll do

In this walking tour of the Chiado and Baixa areas of central Lisbon, we'll take in some of the great highlights of the city, such as Praça Luís de Camões, the Convento do Carmo, Rossio, the Baixa Pombalina and the Terreiro do Paço. Along the way, we'll talk in detail about some of the most significant events in the history of Lisbon and Portugal, including the Great Lisbon Earthquake of 1755, the Easter Massacre of 1506, the Carnation Revolution of 1974 and the achievements of the Portuguese Age of Discovery. We will put these events in context and discuss their legacy and contemporary relevance to help you make the most of your visit to Lisbon.

Nick

Hi, my name is Nick and I'm passionate about making the history of Lisbon and Portugal accessible and meaningful to travelers through walking tours. As a native English speaker and an experienced former tour guide in Rome, I've designed English-language tours in Lisbon that are fun, informative and easy to follow. I've been to over 100 countries myself, so I know what it's like to arrive somewhere new and want to absorb everything and dive into the history and culture of a place. Let me help you do just that in Lisbon!
