What you'll do
We’ll meet at North Shore Landing a quarter of an hour before our time starts to take care of paperwork and allow you time for renting/loading the boat. To be clear, you will be providing the boat, and I’ll Take care of all of our painting materials. We’ll set out at the designated time to find a comfortable place to anchor, then we’ll break out the paints and get started. Keep in mind that the journey from dock to anchor may take up to 30 minutes, so feel free to enjoy a beverage and relax during the ride. With that said, I will provide some light snacks and non-alcoholic beverages, but if you desire anything more you are welcome to bring it along! BYOB as they say! I’ll start leading the painting step-by-step once we anchor, and we’ll have just about 2 hours to work on it together. I have a variety of locally inspired templates you may select from, or you may suggest a subject of your own. Please bring pictures if this is the case! We will be on a boat, so spills may happen! I suggest wearing some clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. The paint is acrylic and therefore will not wash out. The pontoon is only partially covered by shade, so I also suggest bringing a hat and covering up with sunscreen.
Light packaged snacks such as chips and dip. Feel free to contact me with dietary restrictions and allergies. Also feel free…
Non-alcoholic beverages such as bottled and sparkling water, and soda pop
I will provide paints, canvases, water, painting templates, brushes, palates, water, table cloths
I have been a professional artist since 2009, and have been teaching for the past 5 years. After traveling extensively as a SCUBA instructor, Art instructor marine biologist and archaeologist, in 2018 I moved back to my beautiful mountain home to teach art. My work has been recognized by Robert Bateman and the muralist Wyland, has been featured in promotional material for Amgen, and I have designed promotional material for local music venues. I am happy to share my expertise through teaching! Currently I operate a fine art school called Picasso’s Playmates which books through the local Parks and Recreation office, and I help to manage the marina, North Shore Landing as well. I’m excited to share some of the history of Big Bear Lake while we work, and I can’t wait to meet you and hear about your own travels!
Where you'll be
We’ll be on a pontoon boat on Big Bear Lake for this experience. The pontoon boats are deck boats with a nice, stable deck lined on either side with cushioned benches. There is a shade cover over the back portion of the boat, though for the duration of the painting we will be in the front sitting on the benches. I recommend selecting a time early in the morning or later in the afternoon for the least wind and the smoothest water.
Keep these in mind
Any experience can be cancelled and fully refunded within 24 hours of purchase.
Up to 8 guests ages 18 and up can attend.
Please be aware that the boat rental is a flat rate of $300 that you will pay to the marina in addition to the $75 I will charge per painter. You will be the one to rent the boat, and I will happily drive you free of charge. You will need to provide a driver’s license and credit card for the rental.
