What we’ll do

Mexico City´s downtown has a bunch of cool cantinas that have been there for many years, most around 100, and each of them have peculiar stories worth knowing. So we´ll meet in front of Palacio de Bellas Artes so we can start our tour. There´s cantinas where big personalities of our times have had a drink or two, like Francisco Villa, Emiliano Zapata, Fidel Castro, Che Guevara, Porfirio Diaz,…

Dress code is informal. We usually walk between cantinas and through crowded streets sometimes. Less is more in this case. Valid ID super important. Cash preferably over card.

We´ll visit places like: Bar La Opera, operating since 1876, Porfirio Diaz´s favorite place, Gallo de Oro, serving poets, politicians and icons since 1874, La Peninsular, since 1872, Lucha Villa´s favorite cantina, Tío Pepe, since 1874, where William Burroughs used to drink, La Faena, since 1954, used to be a museum, Bar Mancera, since 1903, used to be a hotel, La Potosina, since 1890, Villa and Zapata hung out there and many more cool cantinas.
