What you'll do

The Freita mountain is located in the north of Portugal and is little known even by most Portuguese although it has a number of attractions that make this destination one of the most multifaceted of Portugal. Our journey will start in Espinho train station (20 min train ride from Porto) where I will pick you up in a 4x4 vehicle. From the top of more than 1000 meters, the Freita mountain offers a rare colorful picture, populated by cows so it will be quite a scenic roadtrip. Stoping as many as we wish so you can discover all the important sightseeings such as Frecha da Mizarela which is one of the highest waterfall of Europe. The journey will continue as we go a little deeper in the landscape experiencing the mountain way of life, that enriches the region's heritage, inviting us to know its forgotten villages like Mizarela, Albergaria da Serra, Cabaços and Castanheira that stand out in the landscape. By lunch time we will rest on the waterfalls, where we can take a swim in the crystal clear waters in one of the many wonderful natural pools such as Poço Azul and comfort the stomach with a picnic. On the way back home we still have time to embrace the magic of this place.
