What you'll do
I will pick you up at your residence and we will start the day with breakfast at a delicious local cafe, because it is important to eat well before starting a tour of Tequila! We will then take a scenic drive to Tequila. This will provide, along with my narration during the trip, a foundation for appreciating the specifics of production when we arrive at our first stop: one of the premier distilleries located there. We will then take a break for lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch we will travel to and tour historic Tequila, including the plaza and church, and taste a local specialty: tequila ice cream. The town tour will end with a visit to iconic Jose Cuervo. When guests have had the opportunity to do some shopping, the tour then will begin its way back toward Guadalajara, stopping in a small town for a tour of an artisanal tequilería that may be the areas best kept secret, for a glimpse at small batch tequila production and a tasting in the Hacienda's tequila cave. Those taking the tour can then either be dropped off at their place of residence or choose to take a break before being escorted to dinner at a restaurant selected based on their gastronomic preferences.
I hold an MFA in design history, am fluent in English and Spanish, and have spent the last 12 years exploring every corner of Guadalajara and the surrounding areas. I have led tours in Ghana, Spain, Japan, and Australia among others, with a focus on art, food, and culture. For the past decade, I have led dozens of tours across Mexico and my passion for this country and what it has to offer has only grown. I have studied the history of tequila, immersed myself in the contemporary food scene, and versed myself in both the history and current practices of Mexican fine and decorative arts.
A variety of tequilas for tasting.
Transportation to and from residence and to all points on the tour will be provided in a spacious Honda Pilot.
