What you'll do

You will learn in a small setting each step of coffee processing (picking, de-pulping, drying, dehusking, sizing, roasting and brewing.) (The hands-on picking and de-pulping are during our harvest time.) We do not use industrial machines, you will get to actually use traditional and small scale tools to process micro-lots of coffee. You will get to roast your own coffee and try a variety of ways of brewing it to find your ideal, perfect cup of coffee. In the end, you will get to drink coffee brewed in a variety of ways.
**Geisha coffee tasting is included too!**

Other things to note
Our tour experience is set up to be kid-friendly and there are places to sit, so you do not have to stand the entire time. There is a little walking involved on gravel paths and uneven ground.

My husband and I are owners of the Finca Casanga Coffee Farm. We have been featured in a magazine and on a t.v. show. We have the only farm in the world that provides virtual coffee farming. This allows us to share a unique coffee experience on our tours, where you get to pick, process, roast and drink coffee as you go through each step. We lived in the USA and then moved to Boquete, Panama in 2016 where we are constantly working on improving coffee quality.

Where you'll be

We will be exploring everything about farming and processing coffee. You will see the depulping station, dehusking station, solar drying house and finally the roasting and drinking part is in our outdoor, covered kitchen area.

I didn’t have high expectations for this tour, I thought we’d just walk around a coffee farm while they drone on and on about agriculture. WRONG! Melvin, Andi, and Rick were all interesting and engaging. I learned so much on a deep level, not just the surface. And we got to roast our own coffee! Just had it this morning!

Wow! What an amazing experience. Andi and Rick (the owners) are very passionate about their workers, their farm, and their product. Our guide was Melvin. He maintains the coffee plants on the estate so he knows his stuff. His English was the best we have heard during our stay in Boquete. He showed us every step in the process from planting to coffee in our cup. It's a hands on tour - not just a lecture. Highly recommended.

We were excited to visit a grassroots coffee operation versus a coffee producing factory. The passion and vision Andi and Rick (owners) had for reinventing themselves and a sustainable coffee farm was evident as soon as we met. Chewie gave the interactive tour and his knowledge (gained by working in the dirt alongside the owners for a full year) was second to none. We tasted, picked, and washed coffee cherries. Smelled the different phases of coffee drying and then roasted our own coffee beans to take home and enjoy. Finally we sampled 3 different ways of making arabica coffee. Commercial espresso ( the fancy machines used by baristas). Moka (Italian stove top brew) and the French press, which was my favourite. Andi and Rick offer a lease a tree program, which is the perfect gift for coffee lovers in your life. If you are in Boquete, do not miss this experience!
