What you'll do

In this experience, I will take you inside of 300 years old Brewery to show you the history and culture which is extremely unique compared to wine production, and also we will taste different Sakes (I will keep bringing Sakes until you say stop haha) so you will hopefully find THE ONE to turn you into the Sake Fanatic. In addition, the location we drink has breathtaking rick beautiful nature, and you will be surprised by another face of Tokyo!!

Sake, Japanese Rice Wine, is very unique Japanese traditional liquor like no other in the world. Now I am a very much of fanatic & enjoy it little more than I should lol.
I am proud Sake fanatic now but, to be honest, my first Sake experience was not that great. In the USA college year, many many shots of hot sakes and sake-bombs were enough for me to think Sake wasn't for me.

My opinion was completely overturned when I was introduced to GREAT SAKE in Japan. It was very fragrant & fruity. Easy to drink & flowery in the aftertaste. This experience made me very passionate about sharing Sake experience with my friends who already like/love sake and want to taste more, and also for those who may have had a rough start like I did. lol
Other things to note
It would be great if you could let me know your preference of alcohol (Dry/Sweet, Acidic/not-Acidic, to feel the alcohol/easy to drink etc.) in advance so I can think about what to choose!

Hello! I'm Ryuta, and my close friends call me Wasabi (tell you why when I see you haha).
I have been doing the sake brewery tour for 5 years now introducing fantastic and very unique sake world to foreign friends in English!
I was taught by the master sake sommelier who just happened to be the 23rd generation owner of the over-300-years-old sake brewery that we are going!!
He taught me everything from different types of sake to the Sake history. Now I mixed that tradition with my personal touch, so the experience can be informative, fun, and extremely unique!

I am a native Japanese who have lived in the USA for 5 years.

I will try my hardest so you will find your favorite Sake, know the differences in Sake's grades and tastes, and also become Sake and Japan lover like I am at the end!!

Where you'll be

After we meet at the Shinjuku station, we go to the Ozawa sake brewery which takes about one and half hour by the Train.

We will take a brewery tour then Sake tasting. I tried a lot of different ways to do my tour but it seems my friends like it more when I first show you how it is made then taste the difference! So we will do just that!
We will be back in Shinjuku Station by 3:00pm!

What a fantastic day, can’t recommend enough!! As a host Ryuta was extremely thoughtful and helpful. He took extra time to accommodate us, was very personable, and he even helped us make our dinner reservations for later that evening. We also really enjoyed the sakè itself and the area the brewery is located at was so beautiful and relaxing. Planning to do this again soon!

This was such a perfect day! This is the oldest and first sakè brewery in Tokyo. It was great to get some fresh mountain air after a week in Tokyo metro area. The sakè was delicious, the views were amazing, blue rivers and magical mountains. The tour was thorough history and background of the sake process and Ryuta answered all of our questions. He’s such a great person, hospitable and interesting. Highly recommend!

This was a great an unique tour! Many tours offered sake tastings and history, but not at an actual historic sake brewery! It was very nice to get out of the city and see a little of the beautiful countryside. Ryuta, has a fantastic knowledge of sake and an even better history of this particular brewery which we toured. Ryuta was a fantastic host as well. Highly recommend!

Ryuta shared great knowledge on sake, the brewery, and the history that goes into a drink. Additionally, he was curious to know more about different drink cultures and new drink styles elsewhere in the world and compare experiences. He's a true connoisseur.
